I have a PhD in psychology, although I am more of an applied statistician these days.
There is no question that the discipline of psychology is comprised of some of the most craven and feckless of all professionals. Of course, anthropology, sociology, and political science are as bad, maybe worse. There is no fad which does not completely take over the minds of psychologists. Look at the trans delusion - psychologists and psychiatrists have failed to hold the line that this is a delusion, and have acquiesced completely to the trans activists. White supremacy is just as bad.
I make important point for all scientists (not just psychologists) currently working in America: For many of us, our ancestors (who lived ~ 75-100 years ago) did not even reside here; in my case specifically, my ancestors (who lived ~ 125-200 years ago) did not even possess equal citizenship.
Despite the hurdles that the Woke Movement contrives for "White Dudes" in Academia, I achieved my current faculty position through humble remnants of liberal (merit-based) system. We need reinvigorate this system :)
DEI, which is the antithesis of meritocracy, is under assault by Trump and his team. But DEI is not going away easily. So many are convinced that we need to uplift the marginalized. It's so ridiculous.
There are ways to uplift the marginalized that stand a good chance of achieving their stated goals. But DEI and anti-racism will do the opposite, as is clear if one is observing closely.
I would point to the experience of Professor Jordan Peterson, formerly of the University of Toronto, and his ongoing entanglement with The College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. It is beyond ridiculous at this point, since this "regulating body" seems to be completely captured by woke ideology.
He was not allowed to "dead name" a famous actor? He was not allowed to state that an unhealthily overweight model was not appealing to him? He was not allowed to make a joke about people advocating for depopulation of the planet, in a country that pushes "voluntary" suicide like mad? He was not allowed to suggest that seizing the children of those involved in the Trucker's Protest against vaccine mandates was a bad idea?
Peterson was basically driven away from his chosen profession by his colleagues at the University of Toronto. They exhibited craven and poltroonish submission to the "latest fad". Where is the intellectual integrity, in this entire charade?
Before this current wave of wokeness and Anti-Racism and DEI broke over most of our professions, I had a friend who was an adjunct professor of psychology at Georgetown University in DC. In a graduate school lecture, she used the word "thug", which is of South Asian origin, to refer to a criminal. A black student, in high dudgeon, threw a loud tantrum in class, claiming that since rappers use the word "thug", that blacks "own" this word and no one else is allowed to use it.
In conversations with the psychology faculty at Georgetown, she discovered that in mandatory student clinical training sessions with the public, this black student was screaming and cursing and berating and threatening the "clients" who had come for counselling, on a regular basis. The faculty were trying to ease the student out of the program, since she clearly was not suited for the profession. But it was extremely difficult and delicate since being black, in a town that has a majority black population, she could easily call for riots and arson and murders and so on, which are pretty common in DC for the slightest perceived insult. So everyone in this area is basically terrified of blacks, perpetually.
What does one do? We walk on eggshells, all the time, that is what we do.

His article was published in the Journal of Controversial Ideas. It was not published on this sub-stack. I'm not being "bad" by telling you that grammar is not a science. It is an art form. Perhaps if McNally, R.J. wrote in Italian then you might understand his expression, in the title of his actual article to this "stack", which was, quote:
McNally: Why I wrote an article questioning the prevalence of white supremacy in psychology.
So he didn't publish his article here. He didn't say his profession was or was not a "science". And finally, he complained, in public, about the attitudes of people who are "rats" like the DEI "rats" and folks with similar "rat" attitudes like Stavka 74 of recent repulsive memory.
The details of his published paper are below and he provided a link to the article for you to download in his actual article to this site. Quote:
McNally, R.J., Is Clinical Psychological Science Infected by Racism and White Supremacy?
You should read the article although maybe your English grammar "skills" are not quite up to the task. Lemme guess. An Italian mathematician??? Or are you just another garden variety functionally illiterate American "academic"?

How in the world does the first author of the original paper review yours? That seems like a COI.
DEI is poison.
Brave and good - cheers!

The answer to the question is obviously, no. It is infected by Cluster b type personalities who know how to milk a faulty incentive system.
I'm going to be the bad guy here and say: psychology isn't a science. This article has a place but this substack shouldn't be it.
