Other than my remark on 9/11 it wasn't even on my mind. In 2001 I was still a grad student in Israel, and while I remember it very vividly (who doesn't?) I was very much an outsider. I remember most of the American left opposed that kind of military action, and so did I - from afar. I also remember the post-9/11 reaction in the US. I was mostly on the receiving end - I was used to being profiled at airports for having a right-to-left passport, but it was mostly in Europe in the 90s, and that was a whole new level of "you have been selected for a 'random' security check" or "please step aside and sit in this room with all the other desert people and wait to be questioned". It wasn't fun.
To the best of my knowledge, and again - I was very much an outsider - the left was against it.
And yes, the far left people were always against Israel, and I'm not talking about just condemning Israel's actions (which I do too, quite often) but oppose the very existence of Israel and always blame Israel when a conflict arises. This was my point. Again, I wasn't really thinking of the US, but I wrote the post as an Israeli, not as an American.
