The new gender ideology is being used to coerce speech at universities
by Marisol Quintanilla
Affirmation of the new gender ideology is being required widely in academic institutions including mine (Michigan State University). Freedom of speech is not being respected in this subject and affirmation of this ideology is required to participate in most trainings, activities, and evaluations through filling of forms worded in such a way that demand affirmation (coerced speech) of the new gender ideology. It is required to fill out the demographic questions that force denial of biological reality (mammals are sexually dimorphic), deny thousands of years of historical precedent, and go against religious beliefs. Even scientists with an atheistic world view have written against this new ideology, because they do not want to lie. For example, Dawkins, 2022 wrote “Sex is pretty damn binary. Male versus female is one of surprisingly few genuine dichotomies that can justly escape censure...”
In a YouGov poll from June 6, 2022, 63 % of American agree with the traditional and biological definition of sex and do not want “gender identity” to be included in the definition of sex or be protected by Title IX. Notwithstanding this, academic institutions are compelling affirmation of a belief that is not grounded in biology and most Americans do not support.
It is very strange that the surveys assume that race is fixed when it is really a spectrum (for example I have Spanish, Chinese, North African, and Native American ancestries) and the same forms pretend that gender is on a spectrum (11 options in most Michigan State surveys) when it is clearly binary (mammals are sexually dimorphic). To participate in most federally funded events or fill most forms related to the institution, it is required that one affirm that gender is on a spectrum, not biologically based, and not-binary, therefore forcing me and others to lie in order to participate in most programs. This is not freedom of speech.

Hey, Marisol, if your colleagues come after you for this, contact me directly. I spent a year, post Summer 2020, talking with grad students and colleagues about how to cope with or avoid cancellation attacks. Helped Dorian Abbott get the support he needed to fend off the first attack targeting him (the one at UChic, not the MIT one). Also, feel free to contact me just to shoot the breeze, too.
How exactly does the University putting 11 genders on a form force you to affirm that gender is on a spectrum? You can just select the one you like and ignore the other 10. What exactly is the "lie" that you are forced to do?
As a quick aside, you seem to confound gender and sex. Sure, sex is biologically based, and mostly (but not completely) binary in mammals (intersex people exist, for instance), but gender is a social construct which, while related to sex, contains other dimension . This isn't hard stuff.
I hope you can get over the distress and offense that you have taken by reading those 9 genders that you personally don't think should have been on the form. I'll be over here smoking that Marisol pack.
