A lot of people think the kids have gone mad, but I disagree. The vast majority of students I interact with are normal, hard-working kids. They are on track to develop productive careers, form stable families, and contribute to society. They want to construct, not deconstruct. They want to build, not destroy. There is definitely an angry and vocal minority of crazy, Woke, blue-haired, they/thems, but in my experience they are very much a minority. To repeat, most young people are sane. Just to give one example, Trump won men under 30 and got about two fifths of women under 30. That’s a lot of kids who at the very least aren’t Loony Leftists.
In this vein, a friend recently shared with me Texas A&M Student Senate Resolution 77-25, the “I Love America Resolution” (see below), which passed unanimously. It’s stunning in its normalcy and simple, obvious correctness. It is an expression of what all of us know to be true, but are being bullied out of expressing. So I say lay off the kids. They can see how stupid Wokeness is just like the rest of us, and if we give them some support, hopefully they will be increasingly willing to say so out loud.
I love this! Thanks for sharing it, Dorian. And congratulations to the students who wrote, moved, and voted on the resolution. If I may, I'd like to borrow from it and move a similar resolution at the Washington Education Association's annual convention this spring. Any bets on how far it would get in this bluest of blue states and at a public educators' union meeting?
This gives me hope...
