There’s approximately the same gap between my race (generic cracker) and Ashkenazi Jews as there is been blacks and crackers. Jews are smart. Big deal. Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is similar to Stuyvesant and Bronx Science. It's always ranked in the Top 5 in the country, and is free if you're a VA resident. You just need to test to get in and no surprise - it was majority East Asians, Indians and then Whites attending. Well, the DEI police did not like this, and "evened" out the racial demographics, and their ranking dropped, and the # of National Merit Semifinalists from that school dwindled under the new "holistic" admissions policy.

Reading this, I kept remembering the editor at Earth Systems Dynamics, James Dyke, who rejected my paper that included criticism of some papers by Tim Garrett. Leaving aside that he assigned Tim as 1st reviewer and utterly ignored reviewer 2, he said he "wasn't sure" that dividing by zero in an obvious mathematical fallacy, was an error. This level of math incompetence i have seen before, but never in a physics journal. The senior editors, Axel Kleidon and Gabriele Messori, both agreed with him. And Tim Garrett didn't argue that divide by zero.
The time I ran into equal incompetence was at a BMC journal, Theoretical Biology and Medical Modeling. There, I received a review that mocked the concept of using mathematics in Biology as "numerology". When the EIC and entire board would not respond, the Springer ombudsman shut down the journal.
However, Copernicus has no ombudsman and no protest procedure whatsoever. It's I'm too busy to bother, and silence from Copernicus itself.
The two articles submitted to the BMC journal above. We're published last year in a Chinese journal. Chinese reviewers have good math skills.
FWIW - I think I see serious signs of breakdown in the academy. I would characterize it as the stupidification of Western journals. I could discuss bizarre stupidity participating as an author at PNAS, Royal Society also. I think we are in trouble.
The subtext that inspired this essay is a lawsuit filed on behalf of top Asian STEM students rejected by major universities in favor of lesser candidates favored divisively by DEI. You have not yet provided any counter to the evidence I adduced other than invective against Arabs and Jews.

The overwhelming majority of Semites are Arabs, who outnumber Jews by over 20 to 1. Such comparison falls well outside the scope of this essay. I can say that in PISA math assessments, most tested Arab countries rank near the bottom but a few rich states score much higher.
